Post-Graduation Opportunities for Students in Grades 8–12

Michigan Compiled Law 380.1293 requires Michigan school districts to provide a Post-Graduation Opportunities Informational Packet to every student enrolled in grades 8–12 by October 1 of each school year. The Michigan Department of Education, in partnership with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, has organized these resources through the Michigan Career Pathfinder website. The online collection of resources serves as the state’s Post-Graduation Opportunities Informational Packet. The resources are intended to help students and families explore the many pathways available during and after high school. Students and families can use these resources to:

Research Michigan colleges and universities
Compare college and postsecondary education options
Learn about financial aid and resources for paying for college
Explore careers and employment opportunities
Search for jobs and career preparation resources
Learn about military service and community service opportunities
Complete career, interest, and skills assessments
Explore opportunities to earn college credit while attending high school
Learn about dual enrollment and early middle college opportunities
Find career and technical education and workforce training options
Explore apprenticeships, certifications, and other career pathways
Develop and continue reviewing an Educational Development Plan
Identify possible next steps when a student is unsure about plans after graduation

Summer Camp Counselor Job Vacancy

The Summer School Enrichment Camp Counselor supports the daily operations of the summer enrichment program by assisting staff, supervising students, and helping facilitate engaging educational and recreational activities. This role is designed to provide high school students with leadership experience and exposure to educational environments.

Summer Camp Counselor Duties and Responsibilities

Assist teachers and program staff with organizing and implementing enrichment activities (arts, literacy, STEM, recreation, etc.)
Supervise and engage with elementary or middle school students in a safe and supportive manner
Lead small group activities and help maintain student participation and positive behavior
Support transitions between activities, including setup and cleanup
Serve as a positive role model for younger students
Ensure adherence to program rules, safety procedures, and school policies
Communicate effectively with staff regarding student needs or concerns
Essential Job Functions and Qualifications
- Current high school student in grades 10–12(as of June 22nd)
- Responsible, dependable, and punctual
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers and adults
- Interest in education, childcare, or leadership development preferred
- Prior experience working with children is a plus, but not required
- Student Candidates

  SALARY:Pay for these assignments will be $15 per hour.

An event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the MDHHS office at 12140 Joseph Campau St. in Hamtramck. Food pantries will be offered at this location on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Individuals in Southeast Michigan in need of food must make an appointment by emailing MDHHS-FH-WC-Hamtramck@michigan.gov to help minimize wait times and ensure adequate food supplies.
