Balanced Assessment System

Hamtramck Public Schools uses a balanced assessment system to monitor progress, growth and achievement. This balanced assessment system helps us determine if a student demonstrates any delays or at-risk characteristics in reading, and allows us to monitor reading proficiency across a variety of educational settings.

Universal screening data in conjunction with local reading scores from various benchmark periods throughout the year help pinpoint reading skills that need to be addressed for individual students. Formative and summative local, district, and state assessments help us detect students who need extra support, and enable teachers to prevent reading failure and improve student outcomes.

Our comprehensive literacy assessments and balanced assessment system help us address a student's educational needs and provide them with targeted support through our Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS Page Link).
