Hamtramck Public School's Mission statement is to provide an effective, inclusive, and flexible learning experience for all students.
Hamtramck Public Schools (HPS) defines Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) as an integrated, multi-tiered system of instruction, assessment, and intervention designed to meet the academic, achievement and behavioral needs of all learners.
Tier 1: Classroom Teacher Instruction
High quality education for all students. Direct core curriculum instruction in the classroom for all students. Universal school-wide systems of support and intervention. Grade-level common progress monitoring assessments. Collaborative data-informed decision making. Tier 1 academic and behavior intervention strategies.
Tier 2: Literacy Small Group Instruction (4-5 students)
Standardized small group support instruction in the classroom. Added supports and interventions. Weekly/biweekly progress monitoing. MTSS team and general education teachers collaborate to create student plans.
Tier 3: Intensive Support (1-2 students)
Intensive targeted individualized support. Added supports and interventions with a reading/math or bahavior interventionist. Weekly progress monitoring. Six week targeted intervention cycles. MTSS team and general education teacher collaboration to create support plans. Tier I and Tier II instruction continues with Tier III.
